Solid Waste (Bulk/Yard Waste)
GFL Environmental has completed a merger of Rizzo Environmental Services, Inc.
with a new U.S. subsidiary called GFL Environmental USA, Inc. or GFL-USA.
Household Solid Waste
* Must be curbside by 7:00 am
* Trash must be contained in large-wheeled carts, plastic bags and/or up to 32 gallon
plastic or metal container.
* Large containers may not exceed 200 pounds, and the 32 gallon containers not more
than 60 pounds
* Additional 95 gallon carts are available through GFL-USA for an additional $95.00
Bulk Waste
* Must be curbside by 7:00 am
* Must be along with solid waste
* Allowable’s include appliances, hot water heaters, air conditioners, furniture, etc.
* Note: For Safety, you are required to remove doors and racks from appliances and freon
must be extracted.
Yard Waste
* Must be curbside by 7:00 am
* 2017 Collection is April 3rd through November 30th.
* Allowable’s include garden waste, leaves, lawn cuttings, shrubs & tree trimmings
* Solid/Hazardous Waste may not be combined with Yard Waste
* Picked up separately from your solid waste in order to be transported to an approved
compost facility which then reuses it.
Why are West Bloomfield residents required to use GFL for Curbside Collection?
* Because solid waste collection directly affects public health, safety and welfare, the
Township has determined that the curbside collection and disposal of solid waste from
residential properties shall be undertaken by the Township through contract with a single
licensed designated solid waste hauler. Currently, GFL has a contract through March 2020.
* The primary purpose for the single hauler is to prevent greater deterioration of our
crumbling roads, at a time when there is no approved road funding plan in Lansing.
* Residents are receiving a highly competitive fixed rate and free recycling services.
Realtors/Title Companies: Delinquent waste hauling charges may be added to tax bills for collection purposes. To determine if there are current waste hauling charges please contact GFL-USA Environmental Services at: (844)-464-3587
When to Call GFL?
* When you need to obtain a Trash Cart or Recycle Cart.
* If your trash, yard waste or recyclables are missed on your scheduled pick-up day.
* You have more recyclables than will fit in your bin.
* Questions regarding your Billing Statement.
* Service Issues.
* To request a vacancy (180 day max, min of 30 day increments) 14 days notice required prior.

Holiday Pick Up Schedule
* If your pick-up day falls on or after a holiday during the business week, curb-side service will be pushed
back one day. Those Holiday shall include: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. (If one of the above holidays fall on a weekend, your pick-up day will not change)
Recycling
* Must be curbside by 7:00 am
* Must be along with solid waste
* Metal, glass, or plastic materials shall be rinsed and cleaned
* Recyclables shall be site-separated from other waste, and stored in a “Recycling”
container
* Newspapers/Paper can be placed in paper bags or tied in bundles not more than
50 pounds each.
* Computers, Cell phones and other antiquated electronic equipment is recycled
effectively.

Hazardous Waste
West Bloomfield is proud to offer their residents two (2) annual Household Hazardous Waste Events each year. The event is open to West Bloomfield, Orchard Lake and Sylvan Lake Residents only (ID required). The Events are held at the West Bloomfield Civic Center Complex, 4550 Walnut Lake Road, between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.
