Mary Alice Reporting:
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office is taking action against Firebird Waste & Recycle.
The lawsuit against operators Michael Lohr and Shirley Bennett-Lohr cites failure to deliver waste removal services.
Attorney General’s Office Chief of Consumer Protections Jonathan Blanton explains the Uhrichsville based company stopped operations without any announcement in 2016, and filed for bankruptcy in February 2017.
He adds their office and the Better Business Bureau received complaints from multiple counties, including Tuscarawas, Harrison, Carroll, Guernsey, and Columbiana.
Blanton says the complaints state consumers paid around $30 to $60 for trash pick-up service. Among 37 complaints, an estimated consumer loss totals about $1, 850.
The lawsuit was filed in Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court, and seeks damages and prohibits the defendants from other consumer transactions in Ohio.
