DELANO, Calif. – Heartbreaking video of a puppy Delano Animal Control officers found stuffed in a garbage can has gone viral.
Lorin Thomas, was at the Delano Veterinary Hospital the day officers rushed Ivy in.
Thomas says the female puppy was shivering and had suffered a skull and nasal fracture. Her right eyeball popped out of its socket.
In the video you hear her crying in pain.
Thomas tells 23ABC that she posted the gut-wrenching video to her Facebook page in hopes that someone would come forward with information about who was responsible for Ivy’s injuries.
It’s been less than a week since Ivy was rescued from a garbage can and with the help of volunteers like Thomas and Kelli Hopper, who is fostering her, she is making a remarkable recovery.
On Thursday she will travel to the pound puppy rescue in northern California where she will stay until she is adopted.
Thomas says she wants to remind animal owners that if they are dealing with a hurt or ill pet, throwing them away is not the answer.
“Personally I don’t think that you should have to tell someone that throwing a live puppy in the garbage is wrong but people need to know that there are other options, ” said Thomas.
