Collection information:
Please have your Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver garbage container at the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. Please do not block the sidewalk with your container.
Pickup guidelines:
- Leave 2 feet between containers
- Do not park personal vehicles within 10 feet of containers on service day
- Handles should face towards your house
- Do not drill into, bolt or fasten anything to the cart
- Trash should not be higher than the lid of the container or be placed on top of the lid
- Trash should be bagged and tied
- Do not pack materials tightly into cart
Container Size
Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver residential customers receive a 96-gallon trash container for weekly pickup.
If you have extra garbage or large items – furniture, carpet etc. – that will not fit inside the container, please contact customer service at (303) 288-2100 at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled pickup day. Items or bags placed next to the container will not be picked up without prior arrangement. Additional charges may apply.
Acceptable Items:
- Normal non-hazardous household waste
- Double bagged cat litter or dog waste
Unacceptable Items:
- 55-gallon drums (unless both ends are cut out and drum is flattened)
- Acid
- Ashes, hot or cold
- Broken glass, broken mirrors (unless wrapped in newspaper and labeled)
- Computer monitors
- Concrete or rock
- Dead animals
- Dirt or sod
- Fertilizer (depends on quantity-please call customer service at (303) 288-2100 before placing in trash)
- Firecrackers
- Fluorescent tube lighting rods, bulbs
- Gasoline
- Hazardous materials

- Lawnmowers and other home yard equipment (unless the gas and oil have been completely removed)
- Liquids
- Medical waste

- Paints, stains, sealants (lids must be open and contents dry)

- Razor blades (unless placed in a hard plastic container with a screw-on lid)
- Refrigerators, freezers
- Syringes, hypodermic needles (unless in a proper hazardous materials container – please call customer service)

Online Bill Pay:
To enroll in online bill pay with Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver wait until you receive your first invoice in the mail, then go to the Online Bill Pay button. With your printed invoice on hand, you’ll have your account number and invoice number to reference. Enrolling in auto pay and electronic billing will eliminate the administrative fee from your account.
Residential Trash Service Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations of your Waste Connections Denver trash collection service can only be accepted by phone from a person on the account. Please call before 15th of the next quarterly billing cycle.

Upon cancellation, a $35 total removal fee will apply unless the cans were purchased, and if you cancel before your current billing cycle is over you will be charged a $50 early termination fee. Please allow 6 weeks for any refunds.
Electronics
Please do not put any electronic items in any Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver container. As of July 1, 2013, it is against the law.
Per the State of Colorado, “Waste electronics and computers from residential and non-residential sources cannot be disposed of in solid waste landfills in Colorado. Waste electronics contain heavy metals and other harmful constituents that have the potential to contaminate soil and groundwater if not managed and disposed of properly.”

Residential Recycling
Request ServiceWaste Connections of Colorado – Denver are proud supporters of cleaner, greener Colorado and we encourage residents to recycle. Today more than ever, recyclable products are common and our programs and services make Front Range recycling convenient and worry-free for our customers.We provide a single-stream Front Range residential recycling program (also known as “fully commingled” recycling), which means all recyclables are placed in one bin for convenient curbside pickup. Residential recycling in the Denver Metro area is collected every other week. Place your recyclables curbside by 7 a.m. on your pickup date.
Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver partners with the Recyclebank program. Recyclebank members earn points for recycling and other environmentally-friendly activities. The Recyclebank program supports a sustainable future through group efforts making a positive impact.
New residential customers will receive the Recyclebank Activation Mailer shortly after initiating services. Current customers can call Waste Connections to learn more about the program. Current and new customers who choose to recycle will earn Recyclebank Rewards.
Residential Yard Waste
Request ServiceYard waste will be collected on your normally scheduled Front Range trash pickup day. Some yard waste can be accepted as compost. Please contact Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver customer service at 303-288-2100 to see if composting is available in your community.
- Use a Kraft paper bag for yard waste (available at hardware, home improvement stores.
- Only put in leaves and yard/grass clippings.
If you have longer sticks/branches/limbs, fashion the items into bundles that are no more than 4 feet long and no more than 40 pounds each.

Residential Composting
Waste Connections’ compost is picked up every other week. Please have your composting cart out by 7 a.m. Compost can either be loose or bagged, but must go directly into the Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver composting container. Bags must be compostable as well. We can pick up additional bags when given at least 24 hours’ notice (there may be additional charges).

Residential Roll-off
Request ServiceRoll-off containers are great for clean-up jobs, spring cleaning and large item removal for residential customers. If you have a project and would like to learn more about our Denver area roll-off services, call customer service at (303) 288-2100.
Before ordering a container, it is wise to measure the area where you want the roll-off driver to unload the container and to check that there are no overhead hazards like power lines and tree branches.
The images below show the truck unloading a roll-off container to a site. Note the overall length needed and up to 20 feet of aerial space is needed for safe container delivery and pickup.
