Answer:
Garbage bins and recycling bins should be placed on the day of pick up by 6:00 a.m. garage side of your home, where it is accessible to the collection personnel.

What materials are recyclable?
Answer:
Clear, green, and brown glass from food or beverage containers, aluminum and tin food containers, steel food containers, plastic containers with a 1 or 2 recycling symbol imprinted on them, aerosol cans, and newspaper. The City does not collect batteries.

What time does the garbage truck come by to collect from my home?

Anytime between 6 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. All materials should be out by 6:15 a.m. in order to ensure collection. Please make sure to bring in the bin after collection. From time to time routes are rearranged which, can cause the trucks to start coming by your home at different times.

No, household trash may only be placed on the trash pile after 6:00 p.m. on the day before collection is scheduled.

You can dispose any white goods and old furniture on your regular trash day. Please call 311 for more specific information. The City does NOT pick up any construction and demolition materials, roofing materials, tires, sand, rocks, wood fencing, wood products, paints, soil, etc.

How do I dispose of oil and lead base paints, pesticides, household chemicals, drain and oven cleaners, window cleaners and other toxic materials?

The City of Miami Department of Solid Waste dose not dispose of used tires. In most cases you can leave them with the auto shop where you bought the new tires from.

Call Solid Waste Customer Service Division at 311. The City of Miami only services up to three units of single family residences.

How does your recycling program work?
Answer:
A 14-gallon container is provided to each resident to recycle items such as newspapers, glass, metal and plastic. Recycling containers should be placed next to the garbage cans on the garage side of your home behind the front building elevation. After pickup, each item is sorted into a collection trailer and later sold to a vendor who pays the City for these recyclable materials.
